KLM heads back to the Amsterdam hub

5 weekly rotations will be flown from 25 October 2020.

Feldkirchen bei Graz, 10.09.2020: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will resume the important connecting flight to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Sunday 25 October 2020.

With the start of the upcoming winter timetable, KLM is returning to Styria after the corona-related break. Flights between Graz and Amsterdam will be daily except Tuesdays and Saturdays in the early afternoon. This means that the hub also offers important transfer connections from Graz to e.g. Barcelona, London, Paris, Rome or Oslo as well as to North America (Atlanta, New York, Minneapolis, among others).

"We are delighted to be able to offer our flights between Graz and Amsterdam again from 25 October 2020," explains Guido Hackl, Country Sales Manager AIR FRANCE KLM Austria, Czech Republic & Slovakia. "The decision to resume flights was taken in close cooperation with Graz Airport, Styrian travel agencies and the Styrian economy. In addition to the connection to Amsterdam, the numerous transfer connections via Amsterdam Schiphol are an important factor for Graz and Styria. We hope to meet the region's needs with this and are looking forward to welcoming many Styrians on our flights."

Mayor Siegfried Nagl is pleased about the further positive boost for the Styrian and southern Austrian location: "Graz Airport has opened its doors to the world a little bit more with the resumption of air traffic to Amsterdam. For the many large companies and groups of companies based in Graz, air traffic between European cities is urgently needed, which is why we are making every effort to provide additional connections in addition to those already in place during this challenging period in order to strengthen Graz as a business and tourism location."

DI Wolfgang Malik, CEO of Holding Graz: "We are of course well aware of what business and tourism want and need. This is why we as the holding company, together with our airport management, have made every effort to reopen the most important connections as a gateway to the rest of the world, even in the current difficult times of the corona crisis. Our airport and in fact aviation worldwide is severely affected during these challenging times. We are of course working flat out to restore this hub function for Graz, Styria and southern Austria. On behalf of our partners from business and tourism, I am therefore thrilled that together with the airport management to Vienna and Frankfurt we can now announce the SkyTeam connection to Amsterdam. This really is a milestone for Graz – important and interesting long-haul flights for Europe are offered from there. We are also making special efforts for the economy in Graz and in Styria to obtain the urgent direct connection to Stuttgart. There are really good and confident talks regarding this."

The past few months have been marked by the combined efforts of all partners and stakeholders to enable a rapid resumption of air traffic.

"The return of KLM to Graz Airport is another important step for Graz Airport," explains Gerhard Widmann, CEO of Graz Airport. "This route to the Amsterdam hub not only serves direct traffic to the Netherlands, but also connects Graz Airport with many other destinations in the SkyTeam aviation alliance's worldwide network, thus further strengthening Styria as a business and tourism location."
