Graz Airport: cargo flights bring masks to Austria

At 3.30 p.m. today, the first of two cargo flights carrying the important medical cargo from China landed.

Feldkirchen/Graz, 10.02.2021: The demand for high-quality medical products, currently mainly FFP2 masks and antigen rapid tests, continues to increase significantly due to the new regulations in many European countries. To meet this demand, Diwa Medical, in cooperation with Belenos GmbH and the logistics company Quehenberger as well as Sky Cargo Solutions, is bringing around 2 million masks from China to Austria on a B 777 200.
Graz Airport was chosen as the destination airport.

"The fact that the transport of FFP2 masks is being handled via Graz Airport and that we can once again demonstrate that wide-body aircraft are also handled professionally at our facility is of course something we are very pleased about," explains Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport, "after all, cargo, which we have been operating for several years in close and excellent cooperation with Swissport, is an important business segment for us."

"We are delighted to now be able to demonstrate our expertise in handling cargo aircraft in Graz," says Andreas Ottendorf, Station Manager Swissport Cargo Services Graz.

"With our flexible customer solutions and our international network, we can react extremely quickly to customers' special requirements and also provide short-term transport solutions in times of limited transport capacities," says Gerhard Haslauer, Director Airfreight at Quehenberger Air + Ocean GmbH.

As a specialist for international air and sea freight transports, Quehenberger Air + Ocean works closely with importers of pharmaceutical and healthcare products. Since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, regular charter flights have been operated to Central and Eastern Europe. Quehenberger Air+Ocean is currently arranging several flights to Austria for a large distributor of medical products.
