Graz Airport: Düsseldorf and Stuttgart to return to the regular flight schedule again from 5th October

Direct flights will depart to the two key economic destinations once a day from Monday to Friday.

Feldkirchen, Graz, 15.09.2020: Flights from Graz to the business and automotive centres of Düsseldorf and Stuttgart are of considerable importance to the economy of Styria. Following the availability of weekly connections in September, both destinations are now set to be available again as regular flight connections. Both routes will be flown by Austrian Airlines in a Dash 8-400.

Mayor Siegfried Nagl (MA): “We are very pleased that our joint efforts with businesses in the automotive sector at the location of Graz have borne fruit and that the connections to Stuttgart and Düsseldorf, important as they are in this context, have been strengthened again. This will secure jobs in Graz in these challenging times and maintain our levels of competitiveness with other competing regions.”

CEO DI Wolfgang Malik, Chairman of the Board of the Graz Holding: “I’m very pleased about the further positive impulse for the domestic economy and industry which Austrian Airlines is providing in resuming its flights between Graz and Düsseldorf and Stuttgart from October. The many industrial companies and corporate groups in and around Graz have urgently requested our support for resuming flights to the destinations of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. Together with the management of the airport, we have therefore made every effort to resume these important connections in these difficult times, which are especially tough for the world of aviation. Our airport has been pretty much ‘grounded’. We hope that things are now taking off again – with our partners from the worlds of business and industry for the location of Graz.”

Following its first flight after the break in operations due to the coronavirus pandemic on 22nd June, Graz Airport is slowly but surely returning to a certain sense of normality. Düsseldorf and Stuttgart are two additional milestones along this path.

“Following the restoration of the connections to the major transfer airports of Vienna, Frankfurt and Amsterdam, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart were of particular importance to us due to their importance for the Styrian economy and industry,” explains Gerhard Widmann, (MA), Managing Director of Graz Airport. “I’m very happy that after the intensive negotiations with AUA, connections are to resume to both destinations.”

Flights are available to book on austrian.com.
