111,111th Turkish Airlines passenger takes off from Graz Airport
Graz/Feldkirchen, 12 June 2019 – passenger Eva WENDLER had a very special surprise at 9 o’clock in the morning at Graz Airport. Shortly before boarding her flight to Istanbul she was called to the departures desk, where Hüseyin Güzel (Turkish Airlines General Manager Graz) and Gerhard Widmann (Managing Director of Graz Airport) offered her their warmest congratulations. “Eva Wendler is the 111,111th Turkish Airlines passenger to take off from Graz Airport. We would like to offer our congratulations and wish her a pleasant flight to Istanbul,” said General Manager Hüseyin Güzel. “As the airline that flies its passengers to more countries and more international destinations than any other, we are delighted that the route between Graz and Istanbul has established itself so well.” And he went on to say: “With our new home base - Istanbul Airport - which not only offers us greater capacity and more options to expand, but our passengers state-of-the-art facilities and a pleasant ambiance, we are confident that we can continue to grow further in future.”
“What a fantastic surprise! I could never have guessed this would happen when I booked our flights for today. I’m so happy!” said Eva, who was clearly moved as she was presented with 2 business class tickets to Istanbul by Turkish Airlines and a voucher worth 200 euros by Graz Airport.
Graz Airport delighted with growth in volumes
Gerhard Widmann, Managing Director of Graz Airport, commented: “The fact that we were able to record the best results in the history of Graz Airport in 2018 and have also recorded modest increases in the first months of 2019 is down to our partners like Turkish Airlines. I am delighted that Turkish Airlines is so pleased with the way business has developed in Graz - and I offer my warmest congratulations to their 111,111th passenger here.”
Graz Airport has been part of Turkish Airlines’ global network since the summer of 2015 and currently offers four flights a week. The airline which flies to more destinations than any other airline operates out of Vienna, Salzburg and Graz in Austria.
