Traffic results 2016
Third consecutive year of passenger growth (plus 1.9%) due to the substantial number of scheduled flights.
With a passenger growth of 1.9%, Graz Airport has produced a respectable result in 2016. This is an increase by 18,488 passengers to 981,884 passengers compared to 2015.
Focus on scheduled flights, weak charter flight segment, growth in cargo
As a result of political unrest in several favourite holiday destinations, e.g. Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey, the number of charter/holiday flights dropped considerably (-30.6%). At the same time, scheduled services were flying high (+8.8%), resulting in the plus in passenger numbers.
As for the scheduled flights, the plus is mainly attributable to the Turkish Airlines service to Istanbul, improved services to Berlin with airberlin, and to a fifth daily rotation to Munich. However, scheduled destinations in general developed positively.
9,156.5 tons of cargo were moved (2015: 8,695.7 t), which means an increase in the cargo segment by 5.3%.
